Elaine’s cow tale announced as finalist in children’s story writing competition

Elaine Moore (Dennehy), originally from Mallow but now living in Rosscarbery, a Project Coordinator with CIT, who’s currently studying for a Ph.D, has been chosen as one of ten Irish finalists whose short stories for under-fives have been selected for the national final. You can read Elaine’s story ‘Munch and Belle’s Riddle ‘ at www.munchtimeireland.com where all ten stories are now open for the public to select their winning story. Voting starts on Monday next, 1st July, and continues until midnight on 31st July. Elaine’s story was chosen from the huge volume of entries received by a judging panel which included Dr. Gerry Shiel from the Reading Association of Ireland and Director of MyKidsTime.ie, Jill Holtz.

On hearing that her story was in the top ten, Elaine commented, “As a family, one of our most precious times is bedtime story time. My children love to hear stories and after reading hundreds of children’s books over the years, I began creating my own adventures for my children. On hearing about the Munch Bunch® short story writing competition, I thought that this was my chance to put pen to paper. Munch the Cow was a great character to work with and she took the starring role in stories that I regularly make up for my children. Both Isabelle, 7, and Charlie, 3, are thrilled that I have been shortlisted and I’m hoping that all of my family and friends will vote for Munch and Belle’s Riddle at www.munchtimeireland.com.”

€1,000 will be awarded to the winning entry, and two runners-up will receive €500 each. To read the final ten stories and vote for your favourite, please log onto www.munchtimeireland.com and place your vote before midnight on 31st July 2013.
