Empowering businesses in North and West Cork

Cork, Cllr Frank O’Flynn, Valerie Nurphy, Avondhu Blackwater, and Joan Kelleher, LEO Mallow.

As part of Cork County Council’s Local Enterprise Office Cork North and West continued focus on supporting business, a training programme was recently held in The Mill in Castletownroche. The programme centred on working with businesses to develop key skills that will help them grow their business and incorporate skills such as business planning, financial planning, marketing and sales, human resource management, leadership skills and building a team. Deputising for the Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr William O’Leary said, “Our Local Enterprise Offices are at the heart of the business community assisting in generating sustainable jobs for the region. With a particular focus on entrepreneurship, this programme encourages and supports businesses to reach their full potential. LEO Cork North and West have an excellent track record in supporting successful people in business. I encourage business owners to contact your Local Enterprise Office to explore how they can assist you in growing and strengthening your business.”
Local businesses which took part in the programme included, Sean Jefferies of Sean Jefferies Photography in Mallow, Eamonn Rea of O’Flynn’s Footwear in Mallow, Patrick Murphy of Ck53 in Kildorrery, Samuele Carraro of Blackwater Dog Training in Kilworth, Evelyn O’Donovan of Tusk Interiors in Mallow, Sr Mary Quinn of Nano Nagle Birthplace in Killavullen, Lavinia Untea of Magpie Gems in Castletownroche, Noreen Roche of Epona Retreat Centre in Rathcormac, Deirdre O’Mahony, Bantry, Sean Hayes of Hayes Engineering in Mallow, Jackie Raftery, Mallow, Brendan Foley of 2020HR in Mallow, and Suzette Demicoli of The Farrow Collection in Fermoy.
Speaking at the event, Sharon Corcoran, Director of Services, Economic Development, Enterprise and Tourism at Cork County Council said, “These inspiring entrepreneurs provide excellent role models for businesses in the region. Through training and support programmes such as this, business ideas are often unlocked, and the capacity of participants is developed to provide for a stronger foundation for success.”
