Exciting initiative by North Cork Enterprise Board

Owners/managers of retail premises in Mallow town take note, recruitment is taking place for the Mal-low Retail Development Programme, an initiative of North Cork Enterprise Board. The programme will take place on the following dates; Tuesday 23rd April, 12th June, 2nd July and 23rd July 2013. This new programme is aimed at owner/managers of retail outlets in Mallow town. The objective is to give retailers new tools which will help them grow sales during these challenging times. The programme entails four days of training (one day of training per month) as well as a store audit and visual merchandising audit. Ireland’s leading retail consultant and advisor James Burke will deliver the training workshops and store audit on behalf of the North Cork Enterprise Board. His colleague Cel-ine Cummins will deliver the visual merchandising workshop and audit.

Day 1: 23rd April  – Developing aggressive sales growth strategies.

Day 2: 12th June- Strategic retail management.

Day 3 – 2nd July   Negotiation and developing world class customer service.

Day 4: 23rd July  – Visual merchandising and display best practice

Individual store audit

As retail advisors to the TV programme ‘Feargal Quinn’s Retail Therapy’, James Burke operates in an environment where stores have to be assessed and recommendations made at very short notice. Using checklists and score cards, an in-store audit will be conducted by James Burke together with the store owner/manager over a two hour period. The business will be reviewed under a number of headings and the visit will be customised to each of the retailers and their own individual needs.

Visual merchandising audit

Celine Cummins will carry out this audit and will look at: – Assessment of the overall visual merchan-dising within the store – Critique of window displays and shop frontage – Suggestions on how to develop a pro-active visual merchandising strategy.

A limited number of places are available on this well anticipated programme.
