Extra Gardaí for Adare

Two years out from its historic hosting of the 2027 Ryder Cup, Adare has been promised more Gardaí. In the latest Ryder Cup bulletin update to locals, Superintendent Michael Fleming stated: “An Garda Síochána are committed to supporting our communities, not only during the event but also in the lead-up to it. I am delighted to confirm that a dedicated Sergeant will be appointed to Adare in the very near future.”
He added: “This is a significant development and will ensure that the Adare community are well served in terms of policing service. In addition, I am focused on increasing the current number of Gardaí in Adare and will work to allocate a further Garda member in the coming months.”
Supt. Fleming continued: “I am also conscious of the need to support the business community in Adare, and I am therefore pleased to confirm I have appointed a separate Sergeant to commence engagement with all local businesses with a view to establishing a Businness Watch Scheme in the town.”
He concluded: “I want to take this opportunity to reassure the community that planning for this event is already well advanced and key elements such as security, traffic management and crowd control are to the fore in our thinking.
“I am confident that An Garda Síochána will work collaboratively with the local community to deliver an event that will be awe-inspiring and one that also caters for the needs of the community.”
Supt. Fleming is respon-sible for the Limerick County Community Engagement Functional Area of An Garda Síochána.
