Fair Street to close for replacement of water mains

Uisce Éireann has started works to replace over one kilometre of watermains in Mallow’s Fair Street. The new larger, modern pipes will address bursts and leakage and increase the supply capacity of the network, supporting future growth and development in the town.
Jack Cronin, Programme Manager with Uisce Éireann, said, “We are delighted to be starting this critical project which will deliver a more reliable water supply and a more resilient water network, providing additional capacity to support future development enabling the area to thrive.
“Replacing old watermains in a busy town like Mallow is not an easy task. It takes a lot of planning and liaising with local elected representatives, businesses and residents before boots are even on the ground. We are confident that the short-term inconvenience will be outweighed by the long-term benefits of this essential project.”
To safely and efficiently deliver this project, works will be carried out in two phases, with some road closures required.
To facilitate the safe delivery of these works, traffic management will be in place, in the form of a stop/go system and traffic lights. Emergency access will be maintained at all times.
The project is expected to be completed in October 2025. The works may involve some short-term water interruptions, and the project team will ensure that customers are given a minimum of 48 hours’ notice prior to any planned water interruptions.
