The Cork GAA Executive Committee is recom-mending Mallow GAA’s Fergal McCormack for appointment as U20 Hurling Manager on a two-year term, and the recom-mendations will be brought before the next Cork County Committee meeting on October 6th for ratification. Details of selectors will be announced at a later date.
Fergal was an All-Ireland medal winner with the Cork senior hurlers in 1999, and also has two Munster Championship medals and a National Hurling League medal. In his club career, Fergal made 57 championship appearances in three different grades of hurling for Mallow, while he was also selected for the Avondhu divisional team, with whom he won the Cork Senior Championship title in 1996. Since his retirement from hurling, Fergal has been a very successful coach at local and inter-county level, and his appointment as Cork U20 manager will be welcomed by many.
