FINISH LINE IN SIGHT AS BRUFF PLAYGROUND NEARS REALITY

Bruff childrens’ wait for a community playground may be about to come to an end. Two major fundraising events are in the pipeline, the second of which, A Night at the Dogs was launched Bruff last Saturday morning.

First up, there is the Duck Race to take place on St Patrick’s Day the goodwill and enthusiasm evident among mums, dads and grandparents for this one means more than half of the seven hundred ducks in the race are already sold said chairman Valerie O’Donovan, herself a mother of triplets.

After this, entire families will go greyhound-racing for a thrilling Night At The Dogs at the Limerick Greyhound Stadium on Saturday 11th May. The programme for the night includes the valuable Roches Feeds Munster Oaks and features the auction of a greyhound pup specially selected by leading trainer Paul Hennessy. “The novelty of the event plus the comfortable facilities at the stadium, with children under 16 going free, makes for a very inclusive night out “ said businesswoman and supporter Miriam Sadlier, “I am looking forward to going with my kids,” she added.

This Night At The Dogs will, it is hoped, contribute a major portion of the €30,000 needed as matching funding, considering the LEADER funds already secured and monies raised over recent years. “Currently, we are completing the legal process for the final transfer of ownership of the site from Limerick County Council” Richard Leonard, Project Manager/Engineer, stated. “At the same time we are finalising the equipment selection and tidying up some details requested by the council during the planning process. Once matching funding is in place, I expect that the project can be completed quickly” Mr. Leonard assured parents and kids.
