Fleadh Cheoil Luimnigh comes to Kilfinane

Fans of traditional Irish music, song and dance will flock to Kilfinane over the June bank holiday weekend as the town hosts Fleadh Cheoil Luimnigh 2017. The weekend will start on Thursday, 1st June, with the Hup na Houra Traditional Show in the Church of Ireland at 7.30pm, and the same venue will host Mol an Oige and dance competitions on the following night. Fleadh competitions will begin on Saturday, and other attractions will include an open market, family fun day, Pop-Up Gaeltacht, historical walk, and Aifreann Traidisiúnta. Highlight of Saturday will be the free Gig Rig from 7.30pm – 10pm, with North Cregg, Bernadette Nic Gahann, a regional dance exhibition and Céilí Mór. On Sunday, there will be an open air market, Yoga Tri Gaeilge, Trad Trail with Ballyhoura Beo, free street entertainment, free open air stage, and of course Fleadh competitions. The weekend will conclude on bank holiday Monday with an art workshop for U12s, and of course there will be free seisiúns all weekend in local hostelries. It’s shaping up to be a wonderful weekend in Kilfinane this June bank holiday!
