FOYNES CD LAUNCH NEXT MONDAY

A four-track CD ‘Foynes’ will be launched at the Flying Boat Museum, Foynes, next Monday evening.

Mike Noonan, owner of the Yankee Clipper Bar in Foynes and formerly from St John’s Square, Limerick, believed that Foynes with all its history should have a song dedicated to it. He particularly wanted to write a song to express his thanks to the people of Foynes for the warm welcome they extended to him and his family when he first moved there. So he set out to compose this tribute song. Over several weeks he composed the lyrics and music to a song called ‘Foynes’. He then approached Willie McCarthy from Askeaton, a well-known singer and musician, who arranged and recorded it with backing from the band Acoustra, and vocal harmony from his daughter Yvonne, another well established singer.

Margaret O’Shaughnessy and the Flying Boat Museum came on board and got the CD cover designed and the CD produced.

The launch will take place at the Foynes Flying Boat Museum on Monday 17th November at 8 p.m. and everyone is invited. Admission on the night is €6 per person to include a free CD.
