FRIARY PLAYERS MAKE THEIR STAGE DEBUT IN BUTTEVANT

Buttevant’s new drama group the Friary Players treads the boards tonight for the first time as they present their production of John B Keane’s classic play ‘Sive’ at the Muintir na Tire Community Hall, curtain up at 8p.m. The play will also be staged tomorrow Friday and Saturday and tickets are selling fast for all three nights. The new group has thrown itself with great enthusiasm into its first production and rehearsals have been ongoing for the past couple of months. And what better play to choose for your debut than John B Keane’s unforgettable tale of love and tragedy in rural Ireland. Under the watchful eye of producer John Ryan, Jane O’Flynn who plays the part of Sive, and fellow cast members June Fitzgerald, Marie Fitzmaurice, Denis Cole, Tom Blake, Mick Culloty, John O’Connell, James Trimm and others have been hard at work bringing the play to life, while the backstage crew work equally hard at designing the set and lighting. The end result will hopefully be a riveting three nights of theatre in the Muintir na Tire hall. As Sive is on the school’s examination programme for 2012, admission for tonight’s performance will be just €5 for students with adult tickets priced at €10. Please note however that the play is not suitable for smaller children as it contains explicit language. Tickets are available at O’Flynn’s Motors on the Limerick road in Mallow, O’Connor’s Newsagents, Main Street Buttevant so be sure to buy your tickets early so that you won’t be disappointed.
