FRIENDS RECOGNISE TOM’S CONTRIBUTION

The Hospital-Herbertstown Friends of Chernobyl Annual General Meeting was held recently at Hospital Tennis Club pavilion. Apart from the usual business of the A.G.M., the main item on the agenda was to make a presentation and give recognition to Tom O’Connor for his tireless work for the group in helping to organise that Annual Cycle over the last eleven years. Paying tribute to Tom O’Connor, chairperson Donncha Cleary said “Tom showed vision by starting the cycle over 11 years ago”. Pres-ident Madeline Donaghy, added “Tom’s involvement with the group had been an answer to prayer, the fundraiser is a good family day out and all involved in the Hospital- Herbertstown Friends of Chernobyl are very grateful for all of his hard work over the past 11 years.” Tom was presented with a voucher in appreciation for his work.

Hospital-Herbertstown Friends of Chernobyl have been welcoming children from the orphanages of Belarus to the area each summer and Christmas since it was established seventeen years ago.
