Fundraisers to push an ambulance 26.2 miles!

Five local responder schemes will come together in Cork Racecourse Mallow on Saturday, 27th April to publicise their responder schemes and what they do in our communities. A family fun day will be held at the racecourse venue, and as well as that, some of the responders, along with members of the Fire Service and Gardaí, will push a fully-equipped ambulance the distance of a full marathon, 26.2 miles. On the day there will be a variety of activities and displays, from farming to fashion and everything in between. There will be something for everybody, including CPR demonstrations and children’s entertainment.
The five responder schemes taking part come from Doneraile, Buttevant, Mallow, Ballyclough and Liscarroll, the aim of this event being to promote what they do in their communities so that people are more aware of their role in assisting the National Ambulance Service in responding to emergencies such as heart attack, stroke, cardiac arrest and choking.
Altogether the schemes have attended approximately 1,000 calls since being set up in 2014, and the aim is to get more volunteers and teach vital life-saving skills to members of our communities. They are always looking for more volunteers, and if you are interested in getting involved, please contact the CFR scheme in your area.
