GAA Cycling Group to pedal to Kenmare this Saturday

Mallow GAA Cycling Group in Association with COPE, Aware, and Meals on Wheels, will set off on their annual fundraising cycle this Saturday morning, meeting at the GAA Complex from 7am, before leaving at 7.50am sharp for the journey to Kenmare. Participants hve been putting in the miles on the flat and on the hills in recent weeks to build up the fitness, and hopefully the good weather of the past week will continue until after the last of the cyclists reach their destination. The first port of call will Rathmore Service Station (44km), where cyclists will take a short break (15 minutess) to regroup before heading on to Fitzgerald Stadium Killarney (22km), where another break will be taken. Then it’s a climb up to Moll’s Gap (26km), before pushing on for Sneem (28km). The last leg is the 27km trip will be back towards Kenmare. A total of 147 kilometres will be cycled. There will be 4 support vans accompanying the groups on the road, plus at least one motorcyclist liaising between groups to ensure that, if anyone gets into difficulty, help will arrive soon. For that reason we advise everyone to carry a mobile phone with the numbers of the support drivers, in case of any difficulty.

The organisers would like to thank everyone for getting involved. As a community-based organization, they feel it is important to give back to some of the deserving local causes, and they hope that the benefits will be felt for many years to come. All cards and monies will be collected no later than 14 days after the cycle.
