Gaelscoil Thomáis Dáibhís take county title

Gaelscoil Thomais Dáibhís made history recently by claiming the Cork County Spikeball title for the third row in a year. The historic 3-in-a –row was completed by our mixed team, captained by Aoife Ní Shíocháin. Teams from all over the county descended on Ballincollig for the county tournament. Three teams competed from Gaelscoil Thomais Daibhís and Aoife’s team had to overcome a second team from the Gaelscoil in the final of the tournament. To have one team reach a county final is a tremendous achievement for any school, but when both teams from the Gaelscoil qualified for the final, it truly showed the depth of talent among the students.

As with all sporting occasions, there is often only one winner. However, Gaelscoil Thomais Dáibhís are equally proud of Marc MacCarthaigh O Nuallain’s team who were very gracious in defeat. Many evenings of training had preceded the competition and all the hard work paid off when Gaelscoil Thomais Daibhís were finally crowned county champions for the third year in a row. The winning team of Aoife Ni Shiochain, Gemma Ni Liain, Aoife Ni Tháilliuir, Cormac O Floinn, Peadar O hAonghusa and Seamas O Dubhagain will now compete in the Munster Tournament during February. Guimid gach rath orthu sa chomórtas sin.
