GALBALLY GETS €10,000 BOOST AS ‘BOYLESPORT HERO’ DOES THE BUSINESS

Bonfires blazed in the square on Sunday evening last as the south Limerick village of Galbally celebrated a golden weekend for the local GAA club.

Having captured a cash horde to the value of €10,000 when ‘Boylesport Hero’, a dog nominated by the club, raced away to win the Con and Annie Kirby Memorial Puppy Stake at Limerick Greyhound Stadium on Saturday evening, Galbally GAA enjoyed more glory when its all-conquering U14 football team became the first ever local winners of the Limerick County Feile Peil na nÓg with victory over St Kieran’s on Sunday.

Galbally GAA did not, only get a cash boost of €10,000 as a result of the win but also the opportunity to host its very own fundraising evening at Limerick Greyhound Stadium free of charge.

“The winnings will be put to good use in a number of different ways. It cost over €33,000 to run the club last year, so this money certainly won’t go astray,” chairman Bill Cussen told The Vale Star (See full coverage on page 49)
