The 2nd annual Gather by the Feale – the summer festival that aims to bring fun and merrymaking to the people of Abbeyfeale and environs will take place this weekend July 16th-19th.

Gather by the Feale is the successor to The Gathering 2013 and aims to offer entertainment to every member of the family. It’s a festival of firsts this year with the highlight being the first appearance of Limerick band and recent Sony signing Hermitage Green fresh from their appearance on the Miriam O’Callaghan Show, along with local support act No Direction. It’s a perfor-mance not to be missed. The advent of the Cliabhán at the Glorach Community Theatre, will include the launch of an exciting new heritage arts project and contains work from a collective group of artists and writers. Other attractions include the return of the Carnival to the Square after a long absence, a 10K race through the hills and dales surrounding Abbeyfeale, and the Soapbox Derby down Abbeyfeale Hill on Saturday afternoon.

Another first for Abbeyfeale will be the exciting Cinema under the Stars, with the whole family able to sit out in the open air at Fr. Casey’s GAA Grounds and watch Disney’s The Lion King. And, of course, we can’t forget the first ever Zorb soccer tournament.

Gather by the Feale has lots more on offer, from the Bat Walk in the Park to the Food and Craft Fair which will be joining the regular Farmers’ Market and offering a large selection of crafts including sand art, jewellery, crochet and handknitted gifts as well as gluten free baking and organic jams. The Tug of War and Sheaf Tossing, Darts run, Battle of the Feale, children’s novelty motor parade, battle of the DJs and the younger members of the family will enjoy the family fun day with its selection of activities, including monster slide, Zumba dance with Jerry, face painting, arts and crafts, novelty races, bouncy castles and much more.
