On Sunday week, 24th April, a free guided tour of Doneraile Park and Gardens will be held. The tour will take people back to when the St Legers arrived in Doneraile and how through 14 generations of the family the Demesne evolved through the different styles of gardening, French Court-style, Capability Browne-style, Victorian and so on. Find out the connection betweeen William Shakespeare and Castlepook, one of the few remaining tower houses, built near Doneraile by the Synon family (the oldest family name associated with Doneraile). The tour will be free to all, and given by trained tour guides from Doneraile Development Association. Meet at the playground car park at 2.30pm.
