The extension to Mallow General Hospital is expected to be completed and operational in the next few weeks, offering a 7 day Medical Assessment Unit, plus a day ward and endoscopy unit. Mayor of Co. Cork Noel O’Connor welcomed the news, saying there was a great air of anticipation about it. He added that the new service will be open at weekends for people who are referred by their GPs, and predicted that the range of services on offer will be welcomed by the public.
