Hotel manager goes rollerblading for Brothers of Charity

Mario Puchowski, General Manager of Longcourt House Hotel in Newcastle West, is getting his skates on and aiming to clock up 300 kilometres for the Brothers of Charity.

As lockdown continues, Mario Puchowski, the general manager of Longcourt House Hotel in Newcastle West is getting his skates on and aiming to clock up some serious kilometres for a great cause, writes John Barrett. The team at the hotel have set their manager the challenge of rollerblading a distance of 300 kilo-metres around the townland of Newcastle West during the latest lockdown period, with the aim of raising €1,500 for the Brothers of Charity in the town.
People in Newcastle West may, indeed, already be aware that Mario is a keen rollerblading enthusiast – he has been known to whizz around Longcourt House Hotel on his blades, making a delivery or two, as the hotel remains open for drive-through services and essential workers.
Triona Dore, sales and marketing manager at the hotel, is hopeful that this challenge will inspire others to stay positive and keep moving, “Some of us are going to use this time to try to master a bit of rollerblading ourselves, and get behind Mario as he attempts to reach the 300 kilometres,” she told the Weekly Observer. “It may be that Mario must complete the challenge but, as a team, we want to use it as an opportunity to get fit and raise funds for a very important service in Newcastle West.”
The Longcourt House Hotel will be posting a series of videos from the rollerblading escapades online, leaving clues as to where Mario has been, and people are being encourag-ed to keep a close eye on social media, and an even keener eye for the hotel manager while they are out and about.
