It’s ‘all systems go’ for Charleville Show

The 37th annual Charle-ville Show will take place this Saturday and Sunday, with newly-appointed Minister for Agriculture Michael Creed to attend and declare it open. Charleville Show is the largest two-day agricultural show in the country, covering 70 acres with numerous exciting and interesting events such as judging of cattle, horses, sheep, horticulture, dogs, arts and crafts, cookery and children’s competi-tions. One event worth checking out is the Guinness World Record attempt for sheaf tossing, which in recent years has become a big part of the Show.

The Showgrounds outside Charleville have been upgraded with new roadways to accommodate pedestrian and vehicular traffic, which will make getting around the grounds much easier, and as an added attraction the event is almost independent of the vagaries of Irish weather. There will also be ample car parking in grounds adjacent, providing patrons with much more ease of access. For more on the Show, see the special feature on pages 51 to 59.
