JOBS IN THE PIPELINE AS IRISH WATER TO OPEN MALLOW OFFICE

There is good news on the jobs front for Mallow after Minister Phil Hogan confirmed that the town has been chosen as one of the eight locations nationwide for an Irish Water regional centre. The selection of Mallow as administrative headquarters for the region will see the creation of up to 32 jobs, according to Junior Minister Sean Sherlock who said he was delighted at the news.

The Mallow-based minister said “This is extremely positive news for Mallow and surrounding areas. We have been working hard on this for some time and I am delighted that Minister Hogan sees the potential of Mallow and North Cork for this centre. There will be scope for further positions to be created once the centre is established and recruitment will begin immediately for the initial jobs.”

Staffing will be a mix of recruitment from local authorities, the Department, Bord Gais and open public recruitment. A variety of jobs will be available such as operation and maintenance, capital planning, HSEQ and local authority liaisons.

More information on this will be available in due course on the Irish Water website (www.water.ie) which will be launched tomorrow, Friday.
