Joseph Hennessy of Knockarron is to be one of the 32 escorts for this year’s Rose of Tralee Festival which will take place in the county Kerry town from the 15th to the 19th of August. A son of Mike and Nora Hennessy, Joseph, who was educated at Galbally National School, John the Baptist Community School, Hospital and in MTU, Tralee, is revelling in the new role as preparations continue in advance of the Rose Contest.
The Rose Escort Bootcamp
The annual Rose Escort Bootcamp recently saw the chosen few take part in jam packed itinerary that brought them across the Kingdom and back again. Their hectic schedule featured everything from open top bus journeys and whiskey tastings to mountain climbing to a hand on training session at Tralee Fire Station to a bracing jog at Banna Strand.
Support from employers
Joe Hennessy took it all in his stride and is indebted to his employers, BMJ Consultants of Midleton, who have kindly stepped in to sponsor him as a Rose of Tralee escort. He plays rugby with Galbally RFC and also Gaelic football with the local GAA club in South Limerick. They and many others will all be rooting for the popular Knockarron lad and keeping a close eye on his antics as an escort when the famous contest hits our television screens next month. The Rose Escort of the Year will be announced live on stage on Monday 18th of August on RTÉ with hosts Dáithí O’Sé and Kathryn Thomas.
