KILLOUGHTEEN NS RAISES FIRST ACTIVE FLAG

Past pupils Rebecca Fitzpatrick, Amy Curtin and Sophie Liston raising the Active flag. — Killoughteen NS Raises First Active Flag —

Tuesday September 26th was a very special occasion in our school when we raised the Active Flag for the first time. Having applied for the award last year, we were delighted to have been informed of our success late last June. To mark the raising of the flag, we were honoured to have Ciara Kelly and the legend that is Noel O’Connor, parents, and a few past pupils in attendance. We had Sophie Liston who plays with the Republic of Ireland’s U15s ladies soccer team along with Rebecca Fitzpatrick and Amy Curtin, two more great ambassadors of physical activity. All three girls were on the school’s team that won the Green and White Shield (Division 1) camogie in 2014. Ciara Reidy representative of sixth class last year on the Active Committee also joined us on the day to say a few words for this joyous occasion.
Sincere thanks to the Parent’s Council for all their help on the day. All our pupils enjoyed some Zumba dancing with Derek Long and Miss Aisling Yataki did Tae Kwon Do with all classes. All pupils thoroughly enjoyed both activities. Míle Buíochas to all who help our pupils in so many ways.
