Kilmallock are Limerick hurling kingpins for 13th time

Paudie O’Brien centre with his nephews Shane left and Dylan right after hleping Kilmallock claim a thirteenth sounty snior hurling title

Thirteen is considered an unlucky number by many, but in Kilmallock’s case it most definitely isn’t so, after the town’s senior hurlers were crowned Limerick senior hurling champions for a 13th time after beating Na Piarsaigh by 3-19 to 1-22, at TUS Gaelic Grounds on Sunday.
It was a memorable success for Kilmallock who went through the championship campaign with seven straight wins from seven, including a first-round victory over Na Piarsaigh. It repesents the club’s thirteenth success in the competition, and a first since 2022.
Manager James Hickey, coach Noel Mackey and selectors Jason Earls and Eamonn Maguire had their team meticulously prepared for the clash against Na Piarsaigh, and despite falling five points behind to an early charge from the opposition, they worked their way back into the tie and more than held their own for the rest of the game.
With the county title under their belts, Kilmallock will now travel to a Waterford venue on Sunday fortnight, 15th November, to take on Ballygunner in the Munster Senior Clubs Championship semi-final.
Well done also to Dromin Athlacca who beat Bruff in the Premier Intermediate Hurling Final, plus Garryspillane, Effin and Doon at various junior grades.
