Let’s take a walk and talk of old times, Down the boreen where roses entwine, Where the forge now stands a creamery once stood, There was also a well for the neighbourhood. The ringing of the anvil is music to our ears, As regular as the angelus bell that rings through the year, The man behind the anvil, the conductor on the stage. Martin Myles the blacksmith, a master of his trade.

The plaque was unveiled on Tuesday 17th November by John Hough historian. He spoke about the Co-Operative Movement and the importance of updating the local history. Christy O’Connor of Limerick County Council spoke about growing up in Kilmeedy and attending the national school. It was obvious to everyone he has great pride in his home place. Our Chairman Seamus Murphy thanked all those involved, especially Ian McAuliffe for supplying the limestone, Jim Moloney for the poem, Timmy Cremin for the stonework, Martin Myles our local blacksmith and Damien Keogh for his help and cooperation.
