Knocklong native gets new show on RTÉ 2FM

Dave Treacy

There were smiles and hugs of congratulation all round when the news emerged last week that Knocklong native Dave Treacy had been given his own new weekly Saturday night radio show on RTÉ 2FM, writes John Barrett.
Joining the weekend schedule on the station, Dave will present a high-energy mix of the best in new commercial and club dance music, selecting the top releases for his weekly chart and chat with DJs and producers from around the world between 8pm and 10pm. His mother, Ellen Carroll of Knocklong, now living in Dublin, was, along with other family members, delighted and proud as punch in celebrating Dave’s success at getting such a prime time slot on 2FM. Announcing a shake-up of the schedule following the shock departure of Dave Fanning, the head of RTÉ Digital Audio and RTÉ 2FM, Dan Healy said, “The weekend programme schedule is a blend of emerging and new voices to Irish radio. The exciting thing about our emerging voices is that they are home grown.”
