LANDMARK DAY FOR LIMERICK CAMOGIE

Saturday was a historic and landmark day for Limerick camogie. The county’s minor team, appearing in the All-Ireland Minor A Final for the very first time and captained by Caoimhe Costello, put on a magnificent display in outplaying Cork in the final replay at Dr. Mannix Park Charleville, winning by 3-11 to 1-9.

The game was delicately poised at half time at which point Cork, who had enjoyed wind advantage in the first half, held a 1-8 to 1-4 lead.

Limerick turned on the power in the second half, outscoring the young Rebelettes 2-7 to 0-1 to run out comfortable winners with eight points to spare.

Just as a week earlier in Kilmallock, a huge crowd was in attendance in Dr. Mannix Park for an outstanding display of the code between undoubtedly the top two counties in the grade in 2014. See full coverage on pages 88-90.
