Limerick hurling star Dan Morrissey led a standout panel of guest speakers last week, inspiring over 100 of Ireland’s top entrepreneurs at the All-Ireland Business Foundation (AIBF) Entrepreneurs Meetup, held in Longcourt House Hotel, Newcastle West.
The event brought together some of Limerick’s most dynamic businesses, including Treaty Software, RAYN Safety and Security and Kyotech – all recognised as Business All-Stars for their excellence and innovation.
Morrissey’s insights on leadership, teamwork, and resilience truly struck a chord, showcasing how lessons from the hurling field apply just as strongly in the world of business in his role as Senior Tax Manager with C&C Group. Speaking on how he balances the busy lifestyle between his professional role and the intercounty hurling set-up, Dan Morrissey said: “At this stage, it’s probably just the lifestyle – 12 months of the year. People on the team are accountable for themselves. If you want to play intercounty, you have to mind yourself all year. Nutrition and sleep are probably two of the most important things.”
Morrissey’s fireside chat, followed by a lively panel discussion, set the tone for a day full of ideas, inspiration, and real value for local entrepreneurs. Other respected business voices shared insights on scaling, innovation, and staying competitive in today’s business landscape.
The AIBF Entrepreneurs Meetup in Limerick is part of a national effort to support and recognise excellence in Irish business. The Foundation’s next major event, the All-Ireland Entrepreneurs Summit, will take place at Croke Park on May 30th.
Kapil Khanna, Managing Director of AIBF, praised the local energy: “This event shows what’s possible when passionate people come together. We are so proud of our Business All-Stars – they are driving Irish enterprise forward, setting new standards for excellence, and it’s especially exciting to see that energy and innovation coming from Limerick, a city that continues to lead with ambition and community spirit.”
Dr. Briga Hynes, of UL’s Kemmy Business School, underlined the importance of local enterprise: “Entrepreneurs are at the heart of Limerick’s economy. Events like this strengthen our community and help drive growth right here in the region.”
Elaine Carroll, CEO of AIBF, highlighted the future opportunities: “This meetup was about action. Our entrepreneurs left with strategies and connections that can help them take their businesses to the next level.”
