Limerick scores highly in Community and Council Awards

Limerick came up trumps to win two awards at this year’s Community and Council Awards.
Mungret Park and Playground captured the Disability Access and Inclusion Award while Limerick City and County Council was announced as the Most Innovative Authority at a gala ceremony held over the weekend.
The eleventh edition of the awards, which recognise and celebrate community and councils working together, were presented by IPB Insurance and LAMA.
The awards provide a great opportunity to highlight and celebrate the work done within communities, reward unsung heroes and recognise the phenomenal contribution they’ve made.
The county was also short listed in three other categories:
Paul Ryan of Lough Gur Development Co-Operative Society for Community Volunteer of the Year, Team Limerick Clean-Up for Best Community Based Initiative while the Loobagh River Project was short listed in the Most Significant Contribution to Water Quality category.
