Mallow Credit Union to open Charleville branch

Mallow Credit Union is to open a branch in Charleville in the coming week or two, bringing the full range of credit union services back to the town. At the AGM of Mallow Credit Union in Springfort Hall last Friday night, members voted by an overwhelming majority to extend its common bond to Charleville, and on Tuesday the Central Bank gave the go-ahead to proceed. The news was welcomed by Cllr Ian Doyle, who said it was great to see a fully functioning credit union reopening in the town. In a statement this week, the Board of Mallow Credit Union expressed its sadness at the recent appointment of a provisional liquidator  to Charleville, and said it was incumbent upon them to offer a full credit union financial service to the people who reside or are employed in that common bond. Mallow now operates a seven-branch network across its enlarged community, covering two offices in Mallow, plus Buttevant, Doneraile, Dromcollogher, Broadford and Millstreet, with over 30,000 active members availing of its services.
