Mallow Darkness into Light raises €35,150 for Pieta House

Darkness into light 2016

Organisers of the Mallow Darkness into Light fundraiser have praised the generosity of the public after the event last month raised the grand sum of €35,150. This, when added to the €38,000 raised at the new event at Mitchelstown, means that a total of €73,190 was raised in North Cork for Pieta House.

Darkness into Light was first held in Mallow a few years ago, and has since grown into the biggest fundraiser in the town, with thousands of people of all ages rising from their beds in the early hours to take part in the event which starts at 4.15am, shortly before dawn. Given the many lives lost to suicide in recent years, all monies raised are vital to help the work of Pieta House, and the organisers of Darkness into Light are very grateful to the public who have been so supportive and generous.
