Mallow filmmakers to feature in IndieCork

Two films by Mallow men Ger Browne and Lochlainn McKenna will screen in the inaugural IndieCork Film Festival this Saturday, October 19th. Their films This Old Rag and Monday Night on Friday Hill will form part of  ‘Cork, Like’, a feature length collage of shorts by Cork-based filmmakers painting a filmic portrait of the city.

This Old Rag, a docu-mentary, focuses on the connection people have with various items of clothing in their wardrobe and contrasts the views of those with a passion for fashion with non-fashion-istas. The film is one of five that Browne has worked on in various capacities from casting to directing that will feature in the festival. The film also features fellow Mallow man, actor Martin Lucey. Monday Night on Friday Hill, produced by McKenna and directed by Robert McCarthy follows the tragic tale of Oliver, a successful college grad-uate who is engaged in the liquidation of a company of which his father is an employee.

Ger Browne has an MA in film studies and teaches in the Gaiety School of Acting Cork. He has worked on a variety of short films, music videos and corporate work. Currently in producer mode, he has a number of exciting projects coming up in the new year. Lochlainn McKenna is a busy actor and producer who has recently estab-lished his own production company, Speed of Sight Productions.
