Mallow GAA Says Bye, bye To Bronagh!

Best of luck to Bronagh O’Flynn who has worked as a valuable team member in Carrigoon since its opening in 2007. She worked her last night last Friday and there was a great turnout from the club to wish her well. (when we say ‘she worked’ last Friday night we use the term very loosely!) Bronagh is pictured below with Noreen O’Connell, Kay Sheehan and Mary Fitzpatrick who, by the way, have announced they are to re-form the legendary Mallow GAA Ladies Committee!

Footballers in action!

On this Friday Mallow Premier intermediate footballers are out in a tough County quarter final pairing with Kiskeam. The game is fixed for Kanturk at 6pm and we wish the management and team the very best of luck. Also we wish to give our continued thanks to Maureen’s, O’Brien Street for their sponsorship of the Mallow footballers.

Hurling semi-final

We had a huge game last night, Wednesday, in the Premier Minor 1 Hurling Championship County semi- final v Douglas. The game was on at 8pm in Páirc Uí Rinn, and a report will be given in next week’s notes.

Well done, Katie!

Congratulations from the club to Katie Buckley who represented her county last week in Croke Park in the Senior All Ireland Camogie Final. They met a strong Wexford team who, to their credit, were on top for a lot of the game and they must be commended for taking the title for the third year in a row. Cork will of course re-group and come back better than ever next year. Katie will now turn her attention to her studies and she sets off for Hertfordshire, UK, next Sunday to begin the next three years in radiography and we wish her the very best in all that she does.

Minor football–the date for the semi final v St Finbarr’s will be either Saturday, 6th or Sunday, 7th October.

U10 football/hurling-last weekend the U10 footballers took to the road again and travelled to Fermoy for their annual blitz. We had two teams on the day and played matches against Fermoy, Glenville and Mungret. All played well and enjoyed themselves. We would like to thank Pat ‘Bosco’ Roche for organising the blitz, and players, mentors and families enjoyed the refreshments after the matches.

The football challenge match v Ballyclough which was supposed to be played tonight Thursday has been cancelled. There will be football training instead at 6.30pm.

This Saturday the footballers will travel to Mourneabbey to take part in a football blitz organised by Paudie Kissane and Cian Conway. Matches start at 10.30am sharp.

U8 football-the U8 footballers travelled to Fermoy last weekend and played the local club in a challenge match. All players gave their all, well done to Pat, Noel, Alan, Kieran and John for their continued hard work.

U7 football and hurling training is now only on Thursday evenings. Last weekend, as with other juvenile teams, the U7 footballers played Fermoy in Fermoy in a challenge game. Well done to all for their efforts on the day.

U8 and U9-training for all these age groups continues every Monday and Thursday night, 6.30-7.30pm.

Registration–anyone who has yet to register, please contact one of your team coaches who will give you an application form. All players must register in order to train and play matches.

All hands on deck – Lucozade Sports Club Crusade; Let’s raise €10,000 for Mallow GAA. To win we have to collect as many Lucozade Sports and Lucozade Sports Lite caps as we can; plus, if we collect at least 500 caps we enter a draw to win an extra €5,000, so collect all the tops you can and drop them at the Complex reception to Ciara.
