Mallow Handball Club at the Lough Showdown

Last weekend saw some of our players make the long journey to Tyrone for the Wall Ball Lough showdown. Pádraig O’Driscoll, Cian O’Driscoll, David Walsh, Conor Walsh, Sarah Walsh, Brooklyn Hickey and Stephen O’Rourke all made the journey to the 5th annual Lough showdown.
Pádraig O’Driscoll played many games to make it to the semi final of the Men’s Contender. He lost out to Stephen McCann ( Down) on this occasion. Well done Pádraig.
Cian O’Driscoll lost out in the semi final of the 17 and under in a very tight margin loosing in a tie breaker by only one ace to Jason O’Toole (Galway) finalist. Well done Cian. It could have been anyone’s game.
Stephen O’Rourke bowed out in the 17 and under, in an earlier round to finalist Cahir Munroe (Tyrone), on a very hard fought battle and some fine handball on display.
Brooklyn Hickey 17 and under also bowed out to a finalist Jason O’Toole, another epic game of handball on display.
David Walsh put up a great battle against the number one seed Conor McDuff (Tyrone) in the Men’s Open and lost out by a narrow margin to Dan Grant (UK) in the Men’s A.
Conor Walsh is bringing home the Men’s B Lough showdown title after winning his games, making it to the final. Conor stormed through the final defeating Luke Stradwyck on a scoreline of 21/11. Congratulations Conor on your win.
Sarah Walsh lost out to Siobhán Prentice in the 15 and under semi final after putting up a fine display of handball. Sarah moved on to the plate final, and is coming home with the win on a scoreline of 14/11. Congratulations to Sarah on your win.
Well done to all who travelled, a great weekend was had by all involved.
