The 2014 Mallow Christ-mas tournaments were held during the second and third weeks of December, despite ongoing major renovations to the alley. These two tournaments catered for both senior and juvenile players. The senior tournament is the John O’Keeffe Memorial Perpetual Cup. John O’Keeffe was one of the founding members of Mallow Handball Club, a senior player who held various positions on the committee, and was a much respected juvenile coach. The tournament is held in very high regard by all the club members and is hotly contested. This year Tadhg O’Neill and Darren Whelan defeated Dale Cusack and Padraic O’Driscoll 15/5, 15/9 to win the senior tournament.
The juvenile tournament is the Declan O’Keeffe Memorial Perpetual Shield (son of John O’Keeffe). Declan was a member of Mallow Handball Club from a young age and represented the club nationally as a juvenile player. Niall Delany and Niall Murphy defeated Michael O’Malley and TJ O’Brien 15/7, 15/6 to win out the Declan O’Keeffe Memorial Perpetual Shield.
