Mallow handballers compete in World Championships

Mallow Handball Club jetted off to Minnesota in the United States this week for the World Handball Championships which begin today, Thursday, and run until Saturday week.
A big contingent of players have travelled, along with coaches and supporters, and, given the club’s great successes at world level in recent years, expectations are high that they will return to Mallow laden with medals. To send such a large group to the US carries a major cost, and fundraising has been going on for many months. Main sponsor O’Mahony’s Centra donated a full set of club jerseys, while Dominique Vennettilli of Downtown Takeaway presented the team with club tops. Competitors face a hectic schedule of matches in the coming days, but they have been well prepared by their coaches and will not be found wanting in their match-ups.
Keep an eye on the Mallow Handball Club page on Facebook for updates on the games in the coming days.
