Mallow in the running for two national awards

The Local Authority Members Association (LAMA) will host the LAMA Community and Council Awards this Saturday at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Santry, and Mallow has two nominees in the running for awards: Tim Sheehan is up for an award for Community Volunteer of the Year, while the new Mallow Systems Innovation Centre is nominated in the Best Economic Partnership/Unit category. Mallow had success in this national competition in 2012 when Mallow Primary Health-care Centre was a winner.

Mallow Systems Inno-vation Centre (MSIC) is a unique collaboration between the local comm-unity and third level educational institutes, and develops opportunities for innovative companies to set up in the town. An initiative of the Mallow Development Partnership, it seeks to foster a ‘pro-technology’ image for Mallow through the co-op-eration of the local council, industry, third level institutes, and technology companies.
