Mallow named second cleanest Irish town in Anti-Litter Survey

Mallow Tidy Towns are celebrating a fantastic result this week as the town scored exceptionally high in the latest Anti-Litter League nationwide summer survey, conducted by the Irish Business Against Litter group.
The town scored 2nd out of 40 towns and cities surveyed, beaten to first place by Maynooth, with Kilkenny, Clonmel and Ennis rounding out. The placing was enough to see Mallow deemed ‘cleaner than European norms’.
The report remarked in its findings: “An excellent result for Mallow on its return to the League, with nine of the ten sites surveyed getting the top litter grade – these included Mallow Town Park, Mallow Castle Park/Riverwalk and Main Street/Thomas Davis Street – clearly a careful eye is kept on the various closed down/derelict buildings as there was no litter directly associated with them.”
Indeed, most of the other areas of the town surveyed – the train station and environs, O’Brien Street, Market Square, N20 Limerick approach, R620 Cork approach and N72 approach from M8 – also secured A grades, with the clothing bank at Aldi car park earning a B grade.
A wonderful result for Mallow and testament to the sterling work carried out by the Mallow Tidy Towns volunteers.
