Mallow welcomes Ireland’s top runners this Sunday

The top runners in Munster and from further afield will converge on Mallow this Sunday for the Mallow AC/SuperValu 10 Mile Road Race. This race has grown in size every year, and Sunday’s entry is a record-breaking 1,500 runners, reflecting the boom in interest in running in recent years. Given the large entry, motorists are advised that parking will be at a premium on Sunday for a few hours, and are advised to avoid the town centre from 12 noon to 12-45pm, as the race will start at 12.30pm from outside Boots Chemist. At this time, Main Street traffic will be diverted up O’Brien Street, while cars coming from Market Square will have to go down the Muddy Hill. Ballydaheen will also be closed to cars for a short time. Once the race starts, Main Street will re-open, but please note that the race finish will be at Broom Lane, so slight delays can be expected along the route out by Dano’s SuperValu. There will be stewards at all junctions, and for the safety of runners, spectators and motorists, people are asked to heed instructions.

For those taking part in the race, parking direction signs will be in place, with the Youth Centre on New Road acting as Race HQ.
