It was a night to remember for Mallow’s own Denzell Obenge last Friday as he made his senior debut for Cork City in the League of Ireland First Division.
The young forward, who recently won the Munster Senior Cup with City’s U20 team, was introduced as a second-half substitute in the Rebel Army’s clash with Wexford FC at Ferrycarrig Park, and had a debut to remember as he helped his side secure a 2-0 victory to maintain their commanding lead at the top of the league table.
Mallow Town FC paid a glowing tribute to their former player, saying: “From the Fairfield to Ferrycarrig Park, congratulations to Denzell Obenge who made his Cork City FC Men’s first team debut against Wexford FC. As a club we couldn’t be prouder to have played a part in this young man’s career that is only starting – the future is bright for Denzell.”
