MAYOR THANKS VOLUNTEERS FOR TEAM LIMERICK CLEAN UP 3

The Mayor of the City and County of Limerick is thanking the people of Limerick who turned out in force on a grey, miserable Good Friday for Europe’s biggest spring clean.
More than 16,500 volun-teers, young and old, took part in this year’s Team Limerick Clean Up 3, sponsored by the JP McManus Benevolent Fund and co-ordinated by Limerick City and County Council.
Mayor Cllr Kieran O’Han-lon said “As first citizen of Limerick city and county I am very proud of the 16,500 or so volunteers who spent their Good Friday out in their estates, along the streets and roads, helping to make Limerick cleaner.”
“I would like to thank everyone sincerely for all their hard work during TLC3, your work is deeply appreciated.”
“The commitment by the people to TLC and Limerick is astonishing, but not surprising, because everyone in Limerick is fiercely proud and wants to improve their areas.  TLC is growing every year and is has become a very important event on the civic calendar, so long may it continue.”
“I would also like to thank the elected representatives for their ongoing support and commitment to the TLC event.  It is such a massive event that takes a lot of organising and co-ordination.  I would also like to thank the staff of Limerick City and County Council who are constantly working behind the scenes on TLC and other initiatives to help make Limerick a cleaner, brighter, better place to live,” Mayor O’Hanlon concluded.
