Michael Dowling pens book, ‘After the Roof Caved In’

One of Limerick and Ireland’s most successful Irish-Americans, Michael Dowling, who has been to the forefront of the fight against Covid-19 in New York, has written a gripping book which will be available in local bookshops shortly. ‘After the Roof Caved In’ is Dowling’s rags-to-riches story of his journey from humble beginnings in West Limerick to becoming CEO of New York’s biggest health care provider, Northwell Health.
Michael was born in Glenroe and after a couple of months his family moved to Knockaderry where he went to Ahalin NS and completed his secondary education in Newcastle West.
In recent months, he and his team at Northwell Health have been co-ordinating the New York response to the coronavirus pandemic, and last Monday he watched the first vaccine being administered to Sandra Lindsay, a critical care nurse in Queens Hospital.
Michael is a very busy man, but has found time to write the story of the challenges he faced in the year of the coronavirus. ‘Leading Through a Pandemic: The Inside Story of Humanity, Innovation, and Lessons Learned During the Covid-19 Crisis’ tells the story behind the frontlines of Covid-19 at Northwell Health and in New York, and will be on sale in bookshops shortly.
