MINISTER OPENS NEW TEAROOMS AT DONERAILE COURT

Brian Hayes TD, Minister of State at the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform, with special responsibility for the Office of Public Works (OPW) on Monday officially opened the new Tearooms at Doneraile Court, Doneraile Park.

Speaking in Doneraile Court at the opening the Minister said: “I am delighted to be back again in Doneraile on this very special occasion, which once again demonstrates what can be achieved when local communities work together with the OPW.”

“When I visited in July last year and met with members of the local community, I was struck by everyone’s sense of pride in, and passion for, their local area and their determination to work closely with OPW in order to make best use of this wonderful recreational asset, Doneraile Court and Park.  The provision of these fine Tearooms in response to growing demand brings a new dimension to the Park and will attract even more visitors and generate longer stay-time giving a much needed boost to local service providers and employment,” the Minister said.

The Minister continued: “A key to this development has been the cooperative approach among public bodies and local community interests. OPW has always enjoyed an excellent working relationship with local groups in Doneraile and the opening of the Tearooms today marks a new highlight in this relationship and I must applaud the contribution of Ballyhoura Development, the Doneraile Development Association and the good work of OPW management and local staff in bringing this initiative to fruition.”

The Minister concluded: “I am delighted to declare the Doneraile Court Tearooms officially open and to encourage everyone here to spread the word about the new facilities, to promote their use and ensure their on-going success.”
