Mixed Emotions At Presentation Evening

On an evening of mixed emotions, members of Dromcollogher Branch INTO (Irish National Teachers Organisation) gathered on Thursday last at a function to pay tribute and make a presentation to two of its members who have recently retired. Kathleen Drinan taught in Dromina NS for 38 years. Peggy O’Brien of Freemount came to Scoil Mhuire, Broadford in 2000 from Rathpeacon NS, Co. Cork. Margaret Barnard, Limerick/Kerry INTO representative and Tom O’Sullivan, Assistant General Secretary INTO/thanked them for their contribution to the teaching profession and wished them well in their retirement.

A presentation was also made to Michael O’Connor, who recently transferred to Kilmallock Branch, in appreciation of his work for Dromcollogher Branch.

Tributes were paid to three recently deceased members of the Branch Breda O’Donnell Ballyagran NS, Helen O’Dea, Tullylease NS and Mary O’Connell, Milford NS. All three were dedicated teachers in their own schools and were active members of the Branch on the occasion of their untimely deaths. Dromcollogher Branch INTO made a donation to a charity chosen by each of their families in their memory. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a nanamacha dilis.
