The Lough Gur Solstice Park playground was flooded with sunlight as members of the community and guests welcomed the completion of this new facility on Saturday last, writes John Barrett
Inspired by the Solstice Sun and designed by engineer Philip O’Regan from PHM Consulting, the Solstice Park playground is located right beside the hillside Heritage Centre by Lough Gur lakefront, making it the perfect location to relax, take time out and enjoy the spectacular lake views.
With a coffee shop, fairy village, retail area and facilities all in close proximity, the facility represents a paradise for children, parents and guardians who can stroll around the lakeshore park and take time to enjoy the lime kiln top decking area.
In addition, the acclaimed artist and Lough Gur resident, Robert Ryan, has painted breath taking scenes along the playground walls for everyone to enjoy.
Lough Gur Heritage Centre and new Solstice Park Playground is operated through a not for profit community organisation.
The attendance on Saturday last included members of the Lough Gur community, Limerick Council Directors Seán Coughlan and Gordon Daly, along with Cllr. Brigid Teefy.
