Painting on the streets of Mallow this Saturday

Cork County Council has brought the public onto the streets of Mallow in recent weeks as part of its ‘Living Space Project,’ and this Saturday they are calling on the public to grab their paints and easels to spend an exciting day drawing and painting the sights and scenes of Mallow. Partic-ipants will meet at the local library at 9.30am, and artist Jock Nichol will be on hand to offer advice and instruction to adult artists of all abilities. An exhi-bition of the finished art-works will be held in the Hibernian Hotel from 5.30pm to 6.30pm. Advance booking through livingspacemallow@gmail.com is essential.
As well as this, a specially curated Living Space Trail will begin at the statue of Thomas Davis on the Plaza at 3pm, where our guide, Cllr. John Paul O’Shea, will lead participants to three musical performances installed in businesses and on the street, while giving snippets of Mallow’s history along the way.
The final event in the Living Space Project will be held on the following Sunday, August 14th, with a day of music and dance at Mallow Castle from 1 to 6pm. Performers will include Blarney Brass and Reed Band, Centre Stage Drama School, art workshops by Splattervan, and more. A photography competition is running throughout the four Living Space events, and people can send their photographs from the Living Space events to livingspace mallow@gmail.com (max. 10 images per entrant) along with their name and contact details.
