Past pupil to become new principal at Hospital school

Past pupil Rachel Hayes is to become the new principal at John the Baptist Community School in Hospital.

A past pupil, Rachel Hayes, is to become the fourth principal of John the Baptist Community School, Hospital, since its establishment in 1997, writes John Barrett.
Rachel has served as a Deputy Principal over the last five years, in the senior management team, with Principal Noreen Rafferty and deputy principals, the late Colin Bergin RIP, Ita Browne and Elaine O’Donnell.
She attended Glenbrohane National School and is a past pupil of John the Baptist Community School. Rachel holds degrees from both UCC and MIC and is steeped in the traditions of the South Limerick educational facility, having experienced life there as a student, teacher and manager.
John the Baptist Community School boasts over 1,100 pupils and is recognised as a vibrant, forward-thinking establishment, with a reputation as a centre of excellence and innovation.
Rachel is enthusiastic and energetic and has been instrumental in embedding new initiatives introduced by the current leadership team. Infrastructural developments are underway as a new building project progresses at the school.
The current principal, Noreen Rafferty, is retiring and is very much looking forward to a change of pace after a hectic few years when so much was quickly achieved to meet the changing circumstances. Noreen is delighted to hand on the mantle to Rachel and looks forward to seeing the school continue to flourish in the years ahead.
