Pat and Hugh to represent Ireland at World Transplant Games

The opening ceremony for the 2025 World Transplant Summer Games will take place in Dresden, Germany, on Sunday week, August 17th, and among the athletes taking part will be Pat O’Sullivan from Mallow and Hugh Nolan from Doneraile, who are hoping to repeat their success at the 2023 Games when they came home with gold medals around their necks. The 2025 Games will run for seven days, with athletes from over 60 countries taking part, bringing together transplant recipients, living donors, donor families, supporters and friends to celebrate the Gift of Life and show the positive impact of organ donation.

Pat and Hugh are this year celebrating the 10th anniversary of receiving kidney transplants, and they are a formidable golf partnership, winning gold two years ago at the Transplant Games. Pat made his debut at the World Transplant Games in Malaga in 2017, and he has since competed in European, British and World Transplant Games. Paul, whose speciality is golf, played in his first World Games in 2019 in Perth, Australia, and has had great success.
Pat and Hugh will join up with Team Ireland next week before flying to Germany for the World Games, and we wish them every success.
