The Patrician Academy, Mallow will hold its annual Golf Classic at Mallow Golf Club on Thursday, May 2nd. Dairygold is the main sponsor of the event. The proceeds of the Golf Classic will be used to fund the €1 million Sports Hall/Gym and Conference Room which opened at the school in October 2012. Principal, Catherine Fitzpatrick, stated that the new state of the art facilities have greatly enhanced sport and P.E. facilities at the school for students. The facilities are also available for rental to the local community. She commented that, so far, the Department of Education and Science has been unable to provide any funding for the project. It is thanks to fundraising in recent years and to the generosity of the local community that the Board of Management could commit to providing the sports facilities which are essential in any modern school.
Chairperson of the Fundraising Committee, Ray O’Mullane, thanked parents, students, staff and past pupils for the huge level of support in organ-ising a number of very successful fundraising events so far. He also acknowledged the support of the local community and commented that this support is greatly appreciated by the school community. Mr. O’Mul-lane thanked the main sponsor, Dairygold. He encouraged all to support the Golf Classic.
