Patrician Academy golfers in All Ireland shoot-out

Forget Jordan Spieth: the question on the lips of students at the Patrician Academy is the prospects for the school’s senior team in the National Finals at Athlone next Tuesday, April 19th. Having qualified in the Western region at Killarney last October, the team progressed with ease to the Munster Finals which took place in the Castlemartyr Resort Golf Club on 14th March. Beating De la Salle Waterford in the semi-final that day, they played Coláiste Na Spioraid Naoimh in what was a thrilling final, to qualify for the national finals later. The team’s coach, Deputy Principal Arthur Murphy said this week that they are “an excellent team and should prove hard to beat”.

Team members Daniel O’Sullivan, Eoin Aherne, Conor Roche, Christopher Taylor and Liam Dowling will play Leinster in the semi-final at 8am next Tuesday, aiming for a shot at the All Ireland title later in the day.
